My really radical light cruiser
I have a light cruiser design dating from the early 1970's that is very radical. It has almost no protection. Springsharp required me to give armor to the turret faces and barbettes, which I had been prepared to leave unprotected. The best that I could dor speed was only 35 knots. That requires the lightest possible machinery. The dimensions are 555ft x 50ft x 16.3ft. The standard displacement is 5,000 tons with a 6,500 ton deep load displacement. I have tried this design before, but not with the lightest machinery. The main armament is 8-6in/50 QF guns. This is the Springsharp report:
