Overall survivability and seakeeping ability:
Survivability (Non-critical penetrating hits needed to sink ship):
57,629 lbs / 26,140 Kg = 66.7 x 12.0 " / 305 mm shells or 9.9 torpedoes
Stability (Unstable if below 1.00): 1.24
Metacentric height 8.0 ft / 2.4 m
Roll period: 15.6 seconds
Steadiness - As gun platform (Average = 50 %): 89 %
- Recoil effect (Restricted arc if above 1.00): 0.46
Seaboat quality (Average = 1.00): 1.79
Hull form characteristics:
Hull has rise forward of midbreak,
a normal bow and a cruiser stern
Block coefficient (normal/deep): 0.515 / 0.524
Length to Beam Ratio: 6.10 : 1
'Natural speed' for length: 25.30 kts
Power going to wave formation at top speed: 49 %
Trim (Max stability = 0, Max steadiness = 100): 50
Bow angle (Positive = bow angles forward): 0.00 degrees
Stern overhang: 0.00 ft / 0.00 m
Freeboard (% = length of deck as a percentage of waterline length):
Fore end, Aft end
- Forecastle: 30.00 %, 30.00 ft / 9.14 m, 29.00 ft / 8.84 m
- Forward deck: 35.00 %, 29.00 ft / 8.84 m, 29.00 ft / 8.84 m
- Aft deck: 20.00 %, 21.00 ft / 6.40 m, 21.00 ft / 6.40 m

- Average freeboard: 26.32 ft / 8.02 m
Ship space, strength and comments:
Space - Hull below water (magazines/engines, low = better): 75.9 %
- Above water (accommodation/working, high = better): 199.8 %
Waterplane Area: 45,394 Square feet or 4,217 Square metres
Displacement factor (Displacement / loading): 118 %
Structure weight / hull surface area: 176 lbs/sq ft or 861 Kg/sq metre
Hull strength (Relative):
- Cross-sectional: 0.92
- Longitudinal: 2.12
- Overall: 1.00
Hull space for machinery, storage, compartmentation is excellent
Room for accommodation and workspaces is excellent
Ship has slow, easy roll, a good, steady gun platform
Excellent seaboat, comfortable, can fire her guns in the heaviest weather

The Ger/BB/1909 design concept
The 1909 design for a 24 knot ship with 9-12in/50 guns and 8-6in QF guns with dimensions of 640ft x 105ft x 26.9 ft was probably the genesis for the Ger/BB/1909 design, not a British design. The version that I actually took to a more detailed design had a 30ft draft and a greater displacement. I used that for a Springsharp design:
