Overall survivability and seakeeping ability:
Survivability (Non-critical penetrating hits needed to sink ship):
50,934 lbs / 23,103 Kg = 59.0 x 12.0 " / 305 mm shells or 7.1 torpedoes
Stability (Unstable if below 1.00): 1.18
Metacentric height 6.4 ft / 1.9 m
Roll period: 15.9 seconds
Steadiness - As gun platform (Average = 50 %): 51 %
- Recoil effect (Restricted arc if above 1.00): 0.45
Seaboat quality (Average = 1.00): 1.03
Hull form characteristics:
Hull has a flush deck
and transom stern
Block coefficient: 0.572
Length to Beam Ratio: 8.46 : 1
'Natural speed' for length: 32.69 kts
Power going to wave formation at top speed: 54 %
Trim (Max stability = 0, Max steadiness = 100): 50
Bow angle (Positive = bow angles forward): 4.00 degrees
Stern overhang: 0.00 ft / 0.00 m
Freeboard (% = measuring location as a percentage of overall length):
- Stem: 30.00 ft / 9.14 m
- Forecastle (20 %): 23.00 ft / 7.01 m

Ship tends to be wet forward
Ship space, strength and comments:
Space - Hull below water (magazines/engines, low = better): 99.3 %
- Above water (accommodation/working, high = better): 195.3 %
Waterplane Area: 57,873 Square feet or 5,377 Square metres
Displacement factor (Displacement / loading): 108 %
Structure weight / hull surface area: 171 lbs/sq ft or 835 Kg/sq metre

A fast armoured cruiser for 1921
The natural thing was to see what a 1921 British armoured cruiser, in the same vein, would look like. I initially tried 9-10in guns as a main armament, but that seemed too light for the size. The armament is still light with 9-12in BLR, 16-5.5in QF, 6-4.7in AA, and 24-2pdr AA guns. The armour basis is still just 9in and the maximum speed is still 33 knots. The displacement is a rather large 35,700 tons normal to achieve moderate results. This is the Springsharp report:
