I went overboard, tonight with the GB/CB/1941
I designed a mammoth, very fast battlecruiser for the British navy, tonight, that works well. The draft is an acceptable 35ft. This is something of a departure from the series that I have been designing, in that the hull is flush-decked and the ship has three triple turrets. The ship has the largest caliber guns allowed by Springsharp: 21in (I think). The ship is really a fast battleship, but given the high speed, I wanted to call the design a battlecruiser. The normal displacement is 160,000 tons. I went ahead and specified the 15,000nm range at 18 knots, so the design is suitable for Pacific warfare. The cost is outrageous, but the capability is so great that I don't mind. One of these ships could run to ground almost any other ship on the seas. Smaller ships could possibly outrun the ship in calm seas for a short distance, but in any sort of a seaway at all, this design would be faster, over a greater distance.
