Overall survivability and seakeeping ability:
Survivability (Non-critical penetrating hits needed to sink ship):
11,498 lbs / 5,215 Kg = 106.5 x 6.0 " / 152 mm shells or 1.3 torpedoes
Stability (Unstable if below 1.00): 1.23
Metacentric height 3.3 ft / 1.0 m
Roll period: 13.6 seconds
Steadiness - As gun platform (Average = 50 %): 52 %
- Recoil effect (Restricted arc if above 1.00): 0.38
Seaboat quality (Average = 1.00): 1.05
Hull form characteristics:
Hull has rise forward of midbreak
Block coefficient: 0.541
Length to Beam Ratio: 10.42 : 1
'Natural speed' for length: 24.80 kts
Power going to wave formation at top speed: 60 %
Trim (Max stability = 0, Max steadiness = 100): 50
Bow angle (Positive = bow angles forward): 3.00 degrees
Stern overhang: -2.00 ft / -0.61 m
Freeboard (% = measuring location as a percentage of overall length):
- Stem: 27.00 ft / 8.23 m
- Forecastle (20 %): 24.00 ft / 7.32 m
- Mid (67 %): 24.00 ft / 7.32 m (16.00 ft / 4.88 m aft of break)
- Quarterdeck (15 %): 16.00 ft / 4.88 m
- Stern: 16.00 ft / 4.88 m
- Average freeboard: 21.60 ft / 6.58 m
Ship tends to be wet forward
Ship space, strength and comments:
Space - Hull below water (magazines/engines, low = better): 117.3 %
- Above water (accommodation/working, high = better): 120.1 %
Waterplane Area: 25,111 Square feet or 2,333 Square metres
Displacement factor (Displacement / loading): 106 %
Structure weight / hull surface area: 104 lbs/sq ft or 507 Kg/sq metre
Hull strength (Relative):
- Cross-sectional: 0.95

The GB/CL/1927 design
This is sort of a heftier version of the Italian light cruisers. The maximum speed is 34.5 knots and the range is 8,000nm at 15 knots. The armour basis is still 4in. The armament is 9-6in QF in triple turrets, 8-4.7in AA, 28-2pdr AA guns, and 16-21in TT. This is the Springsharp report:
