An anachronistic version of the Royal Oak of 1862

The Royal Oak, launched in 1862, seems like something of a challenge. This was a converted screw line of battleship. I will see if dimensions of 273ft x 58ft x 24ft will work. The armament in 1867 was 4-8in MLR and 20-7in MLR. The battery was 4.5in and the belt, amidships was 4in. The ends were 3in. I will add deck and torpedo bulkhead. In an anachronistic design, the turrets should be 4.5in. I might try the casemates as 4in. We will see what sort of speed is possible. The anachronistic armament will be 4-6.5in/45 and 20-5.5in/50 guns. I would have two twin 6.5in turrets and 2 twin 5.5in turrets in a superfiring position. The remaing 16-5.5in would be in casemates. This is the Springsharp report for the design:
