My Ger/BB/1918 battleship design (with 17in guns)
The next obvious move was to have a battleship analog to the 17in gunned battlecruiser. The Ger/BB/1918 is sort of a Mutsu/Nagato-style ship with 8-17in guns and 12-5.9in QF guns. The lower belt is about 14in with an 11in upper belt. The deck is 3.9in. That gives reasonable protection. I increased the beam to get better stability and ability to absorb gun recoil. The speed is 27 knots and the range is 5,200nm at 14 knots. The boilers are all coal-fired, as I would expect from the Germans in 1918. This is the Springsharp report:
