Overall survivability and seakeeping ability:
Survivability (Non-critical penetrating hits needed to sink ship):
49,950 lbs / 22,657 Kg = 40.6 x 13.5 " / 343 mm shells or 5.6 torpedoes
Stability (Unstable if below 1.00): 1.12
Metacentric height 6.3 ft / 1.9 m
Roll period: 16.9 seconds
Steadiness - As gun platform (Average = 50 %): 52 %
- Recoil effect (Restricted arc if above 1.00): 0.62
Seaboat quality (Average = 1.00): 1.03
Hull form characteristics:
Hull has a flush deck
and transom stern
Block coefficient: 0.510
Length to Beam Ratio: 8.63 : 1
'Natural speed' for length: 34.06 kts
Power going to wave formation at top speed: 59 %
Trim (Max stability = 0, Max steadiness = 100): 50
Bow angle (Positive = bow angles forward): 5.00 degrees
Stern overhang: 0.00 ft / 0.00 m
Freeboard (% = measuring location as a percentage of overall length):
- Stem: 37.00 ft / 11.28 m
- Forecastle (20 %): 30.00 ft / 9.14 m
- Mid (50 %): 30.00 ft / 9.14 m

- Average freeboard: 30.56 ft / 9.31 m
Ship space, strength and comments:
Space - Hull below water (magazines/engines, low = better): 122.2 %
- Above water (accommodation/working, high = better): 250.0 %
Waterplane Area: 61,610 Square feet or 5,724 Square metres
Displacement factor (Displacement / loading): 106 %
Structure weight / hull surface area: 195 lbs/sq ft or 953 Kg/sq metre
Hull strength (Relative):
- Cross-sectional: 0.95

- Overall: 1.00
Hull space for machinery, storage, compartmentation is cramped
Room for accommodation and workspaces is excellent

Another attempt to achieve a higher speed
My strategy to achieve a higher speed for a battlecruiser is to reduce the armour, reduce the main armament caliber, and reduce the displacement. The new main armament is now 8-13.5in guns in two quadruple turrets mounted forward. The belt is reduced to 6in and the deck to 3in while the turrets faces and barbettes are 9in. The length was increased by 5ft and that added 1 percent to the seakeeping. The normal displacement is now 39,800 tons. All that now produces a maximum speed of 38.5 knots. I also lightened the machinery so that the maximum speed is produced by machinery that is 36 SHP/ton. This is the Springsharp report:
