A German battlecruiser with 16.5in guns
This German battlecruiser design seems to outclass the Hood type. This ship has 8-16.5in/45 BLR and 14-6in/50 QF guns. I choose to omit the problemmatic torpedo tubes. These were a great flaw in the German approach to capital ship design in the 1905 to 1918 period. The one feature that the Hood over my ship is much higher speed. My design has coal-fired boilers and a speed of 28 knots. My design seems to be much better protected, however. A Hood class ship could outrun this ship, however. This design continues to have the "Derfflinger look". This is the Springsharp report:
