The original concept for the Ger/CB/1906 battlecruisers

Springsharp 3.0b2 works well for recreating the original concept for our early 1970's designs. The Ger/CB/1906 ships were intended to have inclined armour, so this is a natural for the new Springsharp. This is the original specification:
Scharnhorst class
800ft x 85ft x 25.6ft
Cp = 0.53
Cm = 0.95
120,000 SHP = 33 knots (Max. 36 knots on overload)
8-12in/45 BLR
12-4in QF guns
4in belt
3in deck
6in turrets and barbettes
Displacement=25,000 tons (Standard)
Hull=11,250 tons
Mach= 8,580 tons
Arm=    955 tons
Misc= 2,000 tons
Prot= 2,215 tons

This is a photograph of one of the two ships:

The 120,000 SHP for 33 knots was over-optimistic. 120,000 SHP is only good for 30 knots, which was fast for the time. This is the Springsharp report:
