The British 1918 heavy cruiser worked much better

Like the 1916 design, the 1918 British heavy cruiser design, continuing the design series, has 8-9.2in guns. It also has 12-4.7in QF, 4-4.7in AA, and 16-2pdr AA guns. Again, there are no torpedo tubes. The armour basis is 4in, although there are 5in turret faces on the 9.2in guns. The speed is increased to 32 knots. As this design series is pretty conservative, I did not try for a higher speed. The range is increased to 5,400nm at a cruising speed of 15 knots. This is the Springsharp report:

Overall survivability and seakeeping ability:
Survivability (Non-critical penetrating hits needed to sink ship):
   17,873 lbs / 8,107 Kg = 45.9 x 9.2 " / 234 mm shells or 2.2 torpedoes
Stability (Unstable if below 1.00): 1.15
 Metacentric height 3.5 ft / 1.1 m
 Roll period: 14.9 seconds
 Steadiness - As gun platform (Average = 50 %): 54 %
   - Recoil effect (Restricted arc if above 1.00): 0.80
 Seaboat quality (Average = 1.00): 1.08

Hull form characteristics:
Hull has rise forward of midbreak
 Block coefficient: 0.578
 Length to Beam Ratio: 9.91 : 1
'Natural speed' for length: 25.57 kts
Power going to wave formation at top speed: 56 %
 Trim (Max stability = 0, Max steadiness = 100): 50
Bow angle (Positive = bow angles forward): 4.00 degrees
 Stern overhang: -2.00 ft / -0.61 m
Freeboard (% = measuring location as a percentage of overall length):
    - Stem: 28.00 ft / 8.53 m
    - Forecastle (20 %): 25.00 ft / 7.62 m
    - Mid (67 %): 25.00 ft / 7.62 m (17.00 ft / 5.18 m aft of break)
    - Quarterdeck (15 %): 17.00 ft / 5.18 m
    - Stern: 17.00 ft / 5.18 m
    - Average freeboard: 22.60 ft / 6.89 m
Ship tends to be wet forward

Ship space, strength and comments:
 Space - Hull below water (magazines/engines, low = better): 150.1 %
  - Above water (accommodation/working, high = better): 185.7 %
Waterplane Area: 30,931 Square feet or 2,874 Square metres
 Displacement factor (Displacement / loading): 103 %
Structure weight / hull surface area: 126 lbs/sq ft or 616 Kg/sq metre
