The J/CA/1914 design
The J/CA/1914 design seems to work fairly well. The main reason that the displacement is so high and the speed so low (30 knots) is that the machinery is heavy for the power produced. The machinery used here is very conservative and produces about 26 SHP per ton of machinery. This design has an archaic armament layout with 5-8in guns on the centerline and two on either side on the broadside. We have also burdened the design with a torpedo bulkhead, although havin a torpedo bulkhead means that the protection scheme is good, as rated by Springsharp:
