The Super Lion Battlecruiser with a 6in belt

I would imagine that Admiral Fisher would have specified a 6in belt for the Super Lion, as he did for the Renown and Repulse. If we do that, then we can reduce the displacement and use normal weight machinery for 1912. Even with the 6in belt and 3in deck armour, the Super Lion has decent survivability, while keeping the 30 knot speed and nice, long roll period (16.7 seconds). Our Wesworld friends might still say that the ship is too large.
